You Can’t Argue With Garrison Keillor
Posted by Rich | Filed under Politics
If there are any of you left on the fence about the current election, I would ask that you take some advice from the most down home radio personality around…Garrison Keillor thinks:
Anybody who got whacked and still thinks McCain-Palin is going to lead us out of the swamp and not into a war with Iran is beyond persuasion in the English language.
and I hardily agree. Read the whole story in the Chicago Tribune.
I am a conservative, and that’s why I am voting Democratic

Over at UnBossed.com, you can’t get much more conservative than this post and it makes a compelling argument for why you, as a conservative, should be voting Democratic like me.
When it comes to traditional conservative values, I top the charts. I am fiscally conservative. I am concerned about my community and involved in its improvement. I care for my family, and I take care of my family…For all these reasons I support the Democratic Party. If you also subscribe to these values, I hope you will too.
If You Desire To Be Poor, Oppressed, and Eventually Vaporized In A Nuclear War, Vote Republican

Paul Craig Roberts at populistamerica.com does a stunning job of coalescing my biggest concerns about the current state of the Republican party.
Today, Reagan is gone. The Republican Establishment is gone. There are no conservative power centers, only neoconservative power centers closely allied with Israel, which uses the billions of dollars funneled into Israeli coffers by US taxpayers to influence US elections and foreign policy.
My biggest concern is that this neoconservative power base wants war. It uses war as a foreign policy tool. “We will free the shit out of you!” is a poplar American refrain that mirrors this idea. This is our first position in all but the most delicate foreign policy negotiations. Indeed we have a substantial lead in weapons technology so we can start with war, but as nations become nuclear (or biological) they can only respond with their best technology. As we become more aggressive in our positioning on what is acceptable in pursuit of the defense of American interests we invite equal or even asymmetrical response; think nuclear war in response to torture, preemptive nuclear strikes, regime change, etc.
The Americans were the first to announce preemptive nuclear attack as their permissible war doctrine. Now the Russians have announced the tactical use of nuclear weapons as their response to American smart weapons.
Sting wrote in the 1980’s the song Russians in which he expresses “I hope the Russians love their children too.” Judging from Russian actions in the 80s and 90s it appears they did…sadly I believe that at least the modern neoconservatives have forgotten our children except as fodder for their ambitions.
So I call each of us to action, If you are a member of the Democratic party, please do your best to support Obama/Biden for this election. Even if you were a Hillary supporter, the stakes are too high for sour grapes. If you are a member of the Republican party and cannot vote for a Democrat, please vote for Ron Paul. You actions may not get Paul elected, but they will send a strong message to the Republicans that we need to bring back true conservatism and push neoconservatism off the center stage and into the fringes of politics. If you are undecided, please choose one of these paths and do not default to McCain. Finally, if you are voting for McCain, please reconsider. Turn off Fox News and read a bit about McCain’s statements and policies. It is clear that McCain is not the maverick he pretends to be and if elected it will be not only more of the same but worse.
Edwards Cheats? He Is A Louse. McCain Cheats, Well That’s Different

It cracks me up that even the mouthpiece of the Republican party, Fox News, can’t cover up the hypocrisy staring it in the face. If a Democrat cheats on their wife, they should be punished and booted from politics, but John McCain did the same thing, and he is given a free ride to it is Ok-ville. If you can defend this distortion of reality, then you are clearly existing in another place from the rest of us here in realityland.
Of course, each talking point spewing guest will try to defend McCain, pointing out how his situation is different…but doesn’t each rebuttal sound a little desperate and hollow?
Watch the hypocrisy storm erupt at 3:00 into the video…

Help Parents TV Complain To The FCC
Posted by Rich | Filed under How To's, Politics
The good folks over at Parents TV sent me an email asking for my help. They wanted me to be aware that there was some indecency on America’s Next Top Model which is apparently shown on TV (who knew?). I did not want to just use their form letter to send my complaint so I personalized my response. Maybe you could copy and paste my version and send your complaint to the FCC as well.
